Making inclusion the norm
Smash Down Barriers (SDB) enhances opportunities for people with disabilities (PWD), women and girls to participate in quality table tennis activities, aiming to foster positive attitudes both by and towards PWD as well as women and girls across Solomon Islands. This initiative benefits not only PWD but also their friends, family, and the broader community. Whilst disability inclusion and advocacy are the primary focuses of SDB, the program also addresses other priorities such as health and well-being and reducing gender and social inequalities.
Smash Down Barriers includes two key programs:
1. The SDB Disability Table Tennis Program: This program focuses on increasing participation levels in table tennis activities for PWD, while also creating more opportunities and improving societal attitudes towards PWD.
2. The Bounce it Back (BiB) Schools Table Tennis Program: This program aims to enhance the quality of life for young people by boosting physical activity levels as well as promoting social inclusion (women, girls, PWD) through table tennis.
