Live well, learn well, lead well
Live well, Learn well, Lead well My Hockey Journals will be used as a key part of the Hook in4 Health program. The Hin4H My Hockey Journals will be used to develop important personal and social learning skills associated with goal setting;
personal reflect on and self-awareness; acquiring new skills; safely making mistakes; knowledge development; decision making; empathy; empowerment and leadership.
These Journals have had successful use in PNG and Vanuatu over the past 2 years and have proved to be applicable to all age and gender groupings and can be used like a chocolate box, pages to be selected as appropriate to a specialised group such as the “Let’s Whistle In” Program targeting more female
involved in officiating.
Train the trainer and ongoing mentoring support for in country staff, deliverers and volunteers will be provided by indigenous Australian women who have successfully participated in and progressed through Cairn’s Hockey - Aspire to be Deadly live well, learn well, lead well, sport for development program. My Hockey Journal includes nutrition information which is complimented by age appropriate and fun food selection and preparation activities, using locally sourced foods, as a part of hockey events.
Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) training of trainers and participant workshops for girls, women and people of all abilities, as well as men and boys, will be conducted as a part of the program and at targeted events. SI Family Health Association is the implementing partner with Family Planning Australia, in delivering SRHR training. As a local Solomon Islands organisation, they will ensure that all interventions are localised, and reflect the cultural and linguistic appropriateness of the interventions.
Ways of working and a culture of safety, equity and inclusion will be promoted by in country staff, hockey coaches, officials and managers who will participate in train the trainer sessions that will assist them to better understand hockey skills, safety, social and personal learning skills, nutrition, healthy relationships, gender equity and inclusive practices which they will then apply to session and policy planning and delivery.
