Pacific athletes, sports officials and community members are embracing the #EachforEqual theme of International Women’s Day 2020 to showcase how sport is helping create a gender equal world.

This photo collection is a snapshot from across Pacific sport as communities embrace the #EachforEqual theme in various sporting settings to celebrate International Women’s Day and share messages to encourage individuals to contribute to gender equality through their thoughts and actions.

The official #IWD2020 theme of #EachforEqual encourages people to “actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements”.

Many sport for development programs under the Pacific Sports Partnerships work to achieve these goals through community-based, sport-themed activities on a daily basis. PSP is delivered through partnerships between the Australian Government and Australian, regional and Pacific island sports organisations. PSP supports 13 sports across six countries with a strong focus on programs that empower women and girls through sport.
